A three-bedroom apartment was in need of additional sleeping quarters, so part of the dining room area was repurposed as a fourth bedroom. The window in this bedroom, however, is the main source of natural light for both the walk-through kitchen and hallway. New sliding doors were designed to provide the comfort of privacy for the bedroom, yet still illuminate these adjoining rooms.
Both doors feature intricate linear designs. The line-work on the bedroom door is clear, and the negative space opaque. The second door (separating the kitchen and hallway) is inverted – the linear artwork is opaque and the negative space transparent, allowing the maximum amount of light to continue through into the hallway.
